Qualifications: 1. Master's level Social Worker LMSW or Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker (LSCSW) 2. Current and valid license with the KS. Behavioral Science Regulatory Board Reports to: Principal I Department Supervisor Job Goal: School social work services are developmental, corrective and supportive and are provided to assist a student in benefiting from educational services: • Support families and students to ensure that students come to school ready to learn. • Strengthen partnership between home and school. • Mobilize school and community resources to enable the child to learn as effectively as possible in his or her educational program. • Participate in multi-disciplinary team problem-solving to address student needs, and strategies that will increase student's success in school. Job Responsibilities: • Provide services to a diverse population of students and families, primarily students involved with Student Improvement Teams. • Act as liaison between students and their families with the school community, district, or surrounding community to address problems in a child's living situation (home, school, community) that affects the child's adjustment in school. • Collaborate with parents, student and staff in development and maintenance of positive behavior interventions. • Serve as liaison and facilitator of community agency services, family and schools, and supervising the referral of students to appropriate community agencies. • Participate in assessment of student needs with observations, developmental or social history interviews, home visits, and consultation. • Participate in response to crisis situations for individual students, staff, families, buildings, or district. • Maintain Weekly Activity Logs to document activities and contacts, as required by the district and state. • Work with parents, students, and staff in a professional and collaborative manner. • Serve as a child and family advocate. Essential skills and Abilities: • Ability to possess and maintain licensure as a social worker in the state of Kansas. • Ability to speak clearly to various groups expressing ideas in a logical and forthright manner. • Possess composition skills suitable for producing written communication for a variety of readers. • Ability to quickly analyze a situation and provide prompt advice. • Ability to respond to information requests in a courteous, timely and helpful manner. • Ability to perform job responsibilities using appropriate software on district computer system and communication equipment. • Ability to manage job responsibilities while meeting established deadlines. • Ability to work constructively and cooperatively with others. • Ability to travel as needed.
