Reports to: Principal
Job Goal: To assist the principal in providing school-wide leadership and to administer the student management system.
Supervisors: Staff members at the building level
Qualifications:
- Kansas Licensure in Building Leadership
- Successful prior relevant experience as a classroom teacher
Performance and Responsibilities:
- Assists the principal in the overall administration of the school.
- Oversees the day to day operations of Student Attendance Services.
- Assists in maintaining discipline throughout the student body and deals with special cases as necessary.
- Oversees all safety and security procedures including the crisis plan, fire drills, and tornado drills.
- Assists in the development of the student handbook and proposed revisions.
- Oversees the selection and coordination of security personnel.
- Assists in the recruitment, selection, and placement of certified and classified personnel.
- Assists in the evaluation of classified and certified building personnel.
- Assists with staff development.
- Assists in providing information for parents and students regarding enrollment and school policies.
- Coordinates the beginning of school year enrollment process for collection of fees and student orientation.
- Coordinates supervision of students within the building, on school grounds, and at athletic events.
- Coordinates with building maintenance personnel for custodial and maintenance needs.
- Assists in supervision of instruction.
- Oversees and maintains inventories of classroom materials and equipment needs.
- Performs other duties as requested by the principal.
Essential Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to possess and maintain licensure (certification) as an administrator in the state of Kansas.
- Ability to speak clearly to various groups expressing ideas in a logical and forthright manner.
- Possess composition skills suitable for producing written communication for a variety of readers.
- Possess budgetary, scheduling, and basic payroll skills.
- Ability to quickly analyze a situation and provide prompt advice.
- Ability to respond to information requests in a courteous, timely, and helpful manner.
- Ability to perform job responsibilities using appropriate software on district computer system and communication equipment.
- Ability to handle job responsibilities while meeting established deadlines.
- Ability to work constructively and cooperatively with others.
The tasks listed in this position description are subject to change at the discretion of the superintendent. The incumbent is expected to take on other duties as requested or assigned by his/her supervisor.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s Policy on Evaluation.
Length of Contract: 220 day contract
Salary Range: $78,000-$98,000 annually + fringe benefits
