Purpose Statement:

The job of Student Support Specialist is done for the purpose/s of assisting with the delivery of operational & administrative services that support students’ behavioral, academic, and social-emotional achievement. Key responsibilities include implementing evidence-based behavior strategies, collaborating with staff and families to address student needs, supporting campus and building activities and well-being, and connecting students and families with supportive community resources.

 

This Job reports to Assigned Supervisor

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

SKILLS are required to perform single, technical tasks with a need to periodically upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: None Specified.

Responsibility

Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; operating within a defined budget. Utilization of some resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to impact the organization’s services.

 

Working Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 15% sitting, 45% walking, 40% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and in a generally hazard free environment.

 

Experience      Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is desired. Experience providing student/family support services in education or social service settings; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience preferred.

 

Education        Targeted, job related education with study in job-related area.
